I was debating where to put this desk for a few months. Finally decided to put in in the playroom! We were having a huge issue in our house with my 5 year olds love for crafts! His supplies and creations are everywhere around the house... and lets be honest, so are mine, but I clean up after myself…Read More
When planning the layout for the basement, I planned ahead and figured out the measurements for a "built-in" bookcase wall. I already owned 3 Ikea billy bookcases and wanted to use those and a two new ones to created a wall of bookcases…Read More
Our huge collection of kids books were being stored in a short Ikea billy bookcase in the playroom. I decided to add a craft desk in the playroom (blog post on that later), but that meant the books had to go somewhere else…Read More
I wanted to highlight some before and after pictures of a recent job I finished. This client is selling their house and needed some help getting organized and motivated to get it listed!
I love a good pantry organization! My own pantry is about 2 feet wide, so I love working with a pantry with endless space.
Like most basements, they are the dumping ground! My basement is finished and I still take everything down there I don't want to deal with just yet.
I took these before pictures, mid way through organizing the basement. We went through every box and bag, sorting into piles to donate, toss or box up for the move!
Lastly I want to highlight Christmas decorations! This was before.
I purchased 4 matching containers to store Christmas decorations. Clear containers are my favourite (they are also a little bit more money) but I went with non-clear for this mini project. When you decorate for Christmas you open all the bins at once, so no need to know what is inside through the clear containers. Once Christmas is upon us, my client will go and purchase a tree bag to store the tree vs in the box the tree came in that you can never close again!
Papers, toys, craft supplies and endless random items are everywhere in my house. We are only a family of four and I feel overwhelmed all the time. I was finding the dropping place for almost everything was at the end of our countertop, right before you go downstairs.
I didn't have a good spot for organization on the main floor, I lack wall space and cupboard space but when you open the door to go downstairs I have a blank wall for a little organization centre. After some Pinterest research and figuring out the needs of my family, I came up with a simple layout, which includes a magnet board, shelf, clip board (holds our chore chart), calendar and file folders.
With back to school approaching I thought it was the perfect time to share my finished command centre and one I did for a client.
Originally I was going to make a sign that said, If not now, when? But my husband remembered this one from our childhood and I went with it instead.
For my clients, I included a chalkboard, magnet board, her calendar, file folders and a cute wall vinyl. We also switched out furniture and put an Ikea expedit shelf under for added storage.
Now go get ready for the kids to go back to school!!
Ever wonder what to do with your broken picture frames? Or just need a cute magnet board to store important papers or invitations?
Today I am going to show how to make a super easy and inexpensive magnet board! I made the one below almost a year ago and have it right next to my everyday files. Not only is it functional but it also looks pretty.
Here are 5 easy steps to make one of your own.
1. First you need your frame with no glass, ironed fabric, scissors and tape.
2. Next head over to your home renovation store and ask for galvanized metal. It comes in a sheet but if your not sure, also bring a magnet to make sure its the right stuff. I picked mine up at Lowe's in the heating department. One sheet did two frames.
3. Cut your metal with scissors to the size of the inserts in the frame.
4. Place metal onto fabric and pull edges in and tape. Make sure to pull really tight. Tape all around the fabric.
5. Place metal in frame, along with the mat and backing. Close up and your done!
The black frames and the white one on the right will be for sale at my garage sale & mini craft sale on Friday, May 30 & Saturday, May 31.
